For 2026, Nissan offers a few new performance features that enhance the already impressive performance and towing capabilities.

Let’s explore the towing capabilities and new performance features in this capable and versatile midsize pickup.
Impressive New Performance Features
All 2026 Frontier trucks have a 3.8-liter V6 with 310 horsepower and a smooth-shifting nine-speed automatic transmission. What’s new for 2026 is a drive-mode selector that adjusts the power and torque for a variety of road conditions. Drivers can choose from Rock, Sand, On-Road, Mud, and Hill Descent Control.
Along with the new performance features, the 2026 Nissan Frontier has a few new interior comfort features. The PRO trims get heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and a power-adjustable driver’s seat. On the outside, the S and SV trims get LED headlights for better visibility.
Ready for Towing
The 3.8-liter engine and automatic transmission give the 2026 Nissan Frontier a maximum towing capability of 7,150 pounds. For a better towing experience, the SV and PRO trims come with standard Trailer Sway Control.
To enhance the drive quality and fuel efficiency, the Frontier has an Idle Stop/Start feature, and the Active Brake Limited Slip provides more brake control when traction declines on rough terrain.
The Off-Road-Ready Frontier PRO-4X R
For 2026, Nissan worked with Roush Performance to design a new trim: the Frontier PRO-4X R. This midsize truck is built for performance, especially on rough roads. It comes with an all-new Roush Performance x Ohlins 2.0 Off-Road Suspension System with a two-inch lift for better approach and departure angles for trail rides. It also has precision-tuned coilover shocks and enhanced upper control arms for better durability on rugged terrain.
This off-road performance truck has 17-inch wheels with titanium accents and Hankook Dynapro all-terrain tires. Additional off-road features include a titanium-finished skid plate, grille inserts, and front fascia. To stand apart from other Frontier models, Roush added Lava Red tow hooks to the front fascia. The “R” badging on the grille, tailgate, fenders, and headrests shows the world who designed and enhanced the newest Frontier.
